Growing up in Ohio, Liz’s musical pallet was influenced by classical music, 90’s R & B, Grunge-rock, and really anything she could get her hands on. Liz has been a part of the Athens, Ohio music scene for over 20 years. A few projects she has been a part of are Direct Attention, Nanny Jones, General Stacks, Liz Pahl & the Pahlbearers and her most recent project, The Summoners.
The Summoners is a band featuring an array of seasoned local musicians including Bryan Gibson (Big Red Truck, Cactus Pears), Matt Box (Serpent Mound, Supernobody, Cactus Pears, Southeast Engine) and Corbin Marsh (the Corbin Marsh Band). Created in 2014, they have made two albums together and played countless shows.
Speak Bird was released in October, 2017 and was recorded at 3 Elliott Studios with the legendary Josh Antonuccio producing.
“The Summoners possess an unmatchable, mature musicianship among their well-versed players. Four exceptional artists join their varying musical backgrounds to create an accomplished collection of sounds. While their formation remains fairly fresh, the collaboration’s contributors boast years of expertise and persistent zeal.” – Nelsonville Music Festival
“[‘The Way We Came’] is an engaging, impressive record, with hints of the Decemberists, Tift Merritt and a variety of folk-rock, garage-rock and alt.country rockers over the past 20 years. It’s heavy on straightforward rock guitar, and the singing, especially Pahl’s aching vocals, does a fine job of delivering memorable songs.” – Terry Smith/The Athens NEWS
